Malaysian-Chinese singer performs in London

Fish Leong, 34, a famous Chinese singer or Malaysia origin, will hold her second concert in London on Jan 25, at Wembley Arena, after achieving great success for her debut London concert last year.

Titled "Love Library", the concert has a focus on Chinese romance songs, and is designed to attract a young audience, many of whom are Leong's fans from China.

"I am very glad to have the opportunity to share my songs and my love with all my fans in London. I recently met many young men who said they have proposed to their girlfriends at my last year's concert, and I'm very happy for that," Leong said.

She was speaking at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, at London's Hyde Park at a news conference one day before her concert.

Born in 1978 in Malaysia, Leong demonstrated a talent for music at young age. In 1997, she went to Taiwan to record song albums under the supervision of Jonathan Lee, a famous musician in Taiwan.

Leong eventually rose to popularity, and has performed in many concerts in China and internationally.

Compared to Hammersmith Apollo theatre where Leong hosted her last year's London concert, Wembley Arena has capacity for a much bigger audience. But Leong says the enlarged space does not put pressure on her.

"I firmly believe that no matter how big the space is, the distance between me and my audience will be very close. So I will be relaxed, and perform with my best effort," she said.

Leong's concert is facilitated through Magic Sound, an independent and professional entertainment and events organization bureau in the UK.

Leong gave her thanks to Magic Sound's team. "Through our cooperation last year, we became friends. Therefore when I come to London this time, I feel like I'm returning home.

Compared to last year, Leong's coming concert will have more new songs, as she has since released a new album, she says. As well, this year's concert will be longer and she will sing some songs chosen by her fans at the concert.

"I want to create a good atmosphere, so if my fans feel the program does not have enough songs, they can ask me to add more," she said.

"As there will be lots of young couples in my audience, I'm also hoping this will be a good opportunity for wedding proposals," she said.

Aside from focusing on her concert, Leong says she hopes to enjoy English breakfast tea with deserts in London.

Leong says that is a fan of the British restaurant chain Jamie Oliver, which is named after a celebrity chef. She adds that her favorite British band is Cold Play.
