BEIJING - Chinese police on Monday handed over to their Vietnamese counterparts a Vietnamese national suspected of being involved in human trafficking.
The criminal suspect was transferred to the custody of Vietnamese police at Baiyun International Airport in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.
Chinese police apprehended the criminal suspect in Maoming City, Guangdong Province, in a manhunt launched upon the request of the Vietnamese side.
Late last year, the Vietnamese office of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) requested that Chinese police help locate the suspect, who was believed to have fled to China.
According to officials with the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, the suspect's transfer adds to evidence that China-Vietnam police cooperation has been fruitful.
