NEW DELHI - Shelling resumed between Indian and Pakistani armies along the Line-of-Control (LoC) in Kashmir after India accused Pakistan of killing two Indian soldiers on Tuesday, said local media.

Meanwhile, the heads of military operation of the defense ministries of India and Pakistan contacted after two Indian soldiers were reportedly killed by Pakistani troops near the LoC on Tuesday, said a statement of the Indian Defense Ministry.

The statement, carried by NDTV, said India considered the killing of two Indian soldiers a grave provocative act by Pakistan and condemned it, while appealing to Islamabad to strictly honor ceasefire agreement along the LoC in Kashmir.

Local media said one of the killed Indian soldiers was decapitated and his head missing. But the Indian army said it was verifying the report.

The two soldiers were on patrol when they were killed close to fence along the LoC, army sources told media.

This followed Pakistani accusation that Indian troops transgressed LoC in Kashmir on Sunday, killing a Pakistani soldier.

Both India and Pakistan have rejected accusations by the other side.
