DAKAR - Former Senegalese minister Karim Wade, who is son to ex-president Abdoulaye Wade, is ordered to appear before the department of the Senegalese gendarmerie on Nov 15 over suspicion of illegal wealth acquisition.

The order was made on Thursday in Dakar, the capital of the West African country, by the prosecutor at the Anti-Corruption Court (CREI), Alioune Ndao.

Ndao said several other ex-ministers will be investigated, including former urbanization minister Oumar Sarr, mining minister Abdoulaye Balde, foreign minister Madicke Niang and energy minister Samuel Sarr.

According to the special prosecutor at CREI, Senegal will seek support from France, the United States and Canada to repatriate illegally acquired wealth.

After elected in March 2012, current President Macky Sall promised to do everything possible to recover wealth illegally acquired by former leaders.
