24 shot dead in N Nigeria state attack

KADUNA, Nigeria - The police in central North Nigeria's Kaduna State on Sunday said 24 people were killed in an attack carried out by unknown gunmen in Dogon Dawa area of the state.
State commissioner of police Olufemi Adenaike disclosed this to reporters in Kaduna, the state capital, saying suspected gang of armed bandits, numbering 10, stormed Dogon Dawa village killing 24 persons.
Adenaike added the gunmen might be on reprisal attack having been identified by a vigilante group set up by the community to unravel the circumstances surrounding the frequent attacks by armed robbers and other criminal activities in the area.
The police chief said investigation has commenced and security presence maintained in the area.
