MAPUTO - The Turkish Airlines is soon to open flights to Mozambique thanks to an agreement signed with its counterpart in the southern African country, Radio Mozambique reported on Sunday.
The Turkish Airlines will have three destinations in Mozambique and the Mozambican carrier LAM will have fights to the Turkish cities of Istanbul and Ankara.
The recent agreement between the two airlines marked a step forward to Europe, where LAM is officially banned.
Over the banning by the European Commission, the Mozambican Communications Transport Ministry has requested the decision be revaluated following the adjustments by Mozambique to cater to recommendations by the EU.
The Turkish airlines announced its interest in operations in Mozambique early this month alongside Qatar Airways, which says its services will reach the Mozambican capital Maputo as from October 31 through a connecting point in Johannesburg, South Africa.
