ANKARA - UN-Arab League Special Envoy for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi arrived in southern Turkey on Tuesday to visit Syrian refugee camps.
Brahimi visited refugee camps in Turkey's Hatay province near the Syrian border on Tuesday morning, and will visit Altinozu refugee camp, a Turkish official told Xinhua.
Prior to coming to Tureky, Brahimi on Monday attended a meeting in Egypt's capital Cairo where the foreign ministers of Egypt, Turkey and Iran discussed developments in Syria on the political and humanitarian fronts.
Earlier on Cairo talks, the peace envoy paid a four-day visit to Damascus during which he met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and opposition members.
Turkey shelters more than 80,000 Syrians in refugee camps.
Brahimi is due to visit New York to meet participating leaders at the meetings of the UN General Assembly, particularly UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, to consult on the conditions in Syria based on his visit to Damascus.
