TRIPOLI - At least two people were killed and some 10 others injured on Thursday in fresh tribal clashes in northern Libya, a local source told Xinhua.

The clashes started during the day time of Thursday as a result of personal grudge between two tribes in Zlitan, some 150 km east of the Libyan capital Tripoli, the source, who requires anonymity, told Xinhua.

Local residents said that both sides had resorted to some heavy weapons including rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) during the bloody fighting.

Libya's national forces are heading to the town of the clashes to calm down the situation there, said the source.

Libyans in some areas of the country still live under intranquil circumstances, nearly a year after the months-long civil war that led to the fall of ex-leader Muammar Gaddafi.

On Wednesday, one security member was killed and eight others were injured during clashes between forces of Libya's supreme security committee and unidentified armed men in a farm south of the capital.

Last week, two explosions hit Tripoli, killing at least two people and wounding several others.
