SINGAPORE - Singapore's non-oil domestic exports in May expanded by 3.2 percent year on year, following the increase of 1.7 percent in the previous month, statistics released on Monday by trade promotion agency International Enterprise Singapore showed.
The increase was attributable to expansion in both the electronic and non-electronic sector. The electronic domestic exports grew by 3.9 percent, largely due to higher exports of integrated circuits, telecommunications equipment and capacitors.
The non-electronic NODX grew by 2.8 percent.
The non-oil domestic exports to all the top ten markets, except for the United States, Japan as well as the Chinese mainland, rose in May.
On a seasonally-adjusted month-on-month basis, the non-oil domestic exports (NODX) fell by 2.1 percent in May.
Total trade expanded by 4.6 percent year on year in May, following the 1.5 per cent increase in the previous month.
China's trade statistics in May released over the weekend also surprised on the upside, with exports expanding by 15.3 percent while imports up 12.7 percent.
