TRIPOLI - A spokesman of Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) said Thursday that the NTC is willing to support and cooperate with interim Prime Minister Abdel Rahim el-Keeb's government, in response to rumors that the ruling council and the interim government are at odds.
Despite complaints about the interim government's performance, the NTC has never been the opponent of the government, but is supportive and eager to offer advice for the government, NTC spokesman Mohamed Alhraizi said.
The NTC has been trying to give the government opportunities to change its way of work and address problems in the country, Alhraizi said, adding that the council held a meeting Tuesday night with the interim prime minister and some other ministers and officials, and pledged support for the government's plans to deal with issues such as security.
The spokesman also said Libya will hold the parliamentary elections as scheduled, and the NTC will work to ensure security in the country.
