MOSCOW - Russian Prime Minister and president-elect Vladimir Putin on Thursday ordered the government to form "road maps" to fulfill his promises in the campaigns.
At a meeting on the implementation of tasks listed in his articles, Putin stressed that all the road maps should be provided with budget funding.
"We need to expand the work to implement the specified tasks, and I would like to talk today about the so-called 'road maps' that we must adopt in order to practically fulfill all the tasks set forth," Putin said.
"All our proposals and programs in economy, the social sphere, infrastructure and the defense sphere should be guaranteed sufficient financial resources," he added.
Meanwhile, Putin ordered the government to carry out more efficient budget policies to ensure macroeconomic stability.
"We need to use state resources carefully," Putin said.
Also on Thursday, presidential spokeswoman Natalya Timakova confirmed a new government would not be announced soon.
"All staff and structural decisions on a new government will be made public only after the new prime minister is appointed," Timakova told a press conference.
"Consultations between Dmitry Medvedev and Vladimir Putin about a possible composition of the new government are underway," she added.
The Kremlin said earlier that the new government will be announced after Putin's inauguration on May 7.
Putin, who won a resounding victory in the March 4 presidential election, has promised before the election to nominate incumbent President Medvedev as prime minister if he is elected president.
