TUNIS - UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres began a three-day official visit to Tunisia on Monday, the official TAP press agency reported.

Guterres' visit will make it possible to take a stock of the humanitarian situation on the Tunisian-Libyan border as well as to exchange views on the UN refugee agency's cooperation with Tunisia, TAP said.

During his visit, the UN refugee chief will meet with the Tunisian president, the head of the government and the foreign affairs minister.

It is Antonio Guterres' second visit to the country after his first visit in June 2011.

There are about 3,600 refugees living in Choucha camp in southern Tunisia. Most of them are Africans who prefer being transferred to other countries than their own, fearing retaliation and violence.
