CAIRO - The Egyptian People's Assembly (lower house of parliament) decided to freeze its relations with the Syrian parliament due to the escalated violence suffered by the Syrian protesters, state media reported Tuesday.
The lower house approved a statement submitted by its Arab affairs committee, which urged to cut the relations between the Egyptian and the Syrian parliaments unless the Syrian government stops its "violent practices" against the protesters and meets the required changes.
The statement asked the Egyptian government to adopt clear stand and effective polices regarding Syria, and condemned the violence against the innocent citizens.
The statement also called for the Syrians to keep their protests peaceful and avoid the eruption of a civil war.
