LAGOS - The Nigerian authorities on Monday imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the northern city of Kano, the second time in days after doing so in a string of towns in the Muslim-dominated north following a deadly church attack.
The latest curfew, unlike the previous one, came amid reports that at least three persons had been killed and several others injured in a nationwide protest, which tends to gain momentum following the fuel subsidy removal in the West African country.
The deadly clash between police and protesters added to the complications in which the militant sect Boko Haram shot dead 12 people during a church service last week, the latest in a series in recent years, prompting a curfew in northern cities and towns including Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.
