ISLAMABAD -- Seven Pakistani employees of an American non-governmental organization (NGO) were kidnapped Tuesday morning in Pakistan's southwestern province of Balochistan, reported local Urdu TV channel Geo.

According to the report, the seven employees were captured by some unknown men in two cars when they were distributing relief goods in the Surkhab area of Pishin, a city some 60 kilometers north of the province's capital Quetta.

The seven people kidnapped were all of Pakistani nationality and they are working for an American refugee committee, said local police, adding that the search operation of the kidnapped people is under way.

Not long ago, a Swiss couple was kidnapped by unknown people in the Loralai district of the province when they were traveling there. The whereabouts of the missing couple is still not known yet. Kidnapping frequently occurs in Balochistan and most of the kidnappings are carried out for ransom.
