SYDNEY - Two Australians, including a former Greens Member of Parliament (MP), have had their deportation orders overturned by an Israeli court, local media reported on Thursday.
Former New South Wales Greens MP Sylvia Hale and Jewish activist Vivienne Porzsolt were detained in Tel Aviv on Tuesday when they tried to enter the West Bank, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reported.
The pair had reportedly planned to travel on a flotilla of activists and protesters hoping to break the Israeli naval blockade in Gaza.
A judge has given the woman's release, and given them 24 hours to secure formal permission to visit the West Bank, the ABC reported.
Hale's daughter, Alison Barnes, said it has been an anxious time since the pair's arrest.
"It's very exciting news. It's an enormous relief," she said.
