Jalalabad, Afghanistan - Nine civilians were killed and five others injured Wednesday night when unidentified gunmen attacked a wedding party in the country's Nangarhar province, spokesman for local government said Thursday.

"A number of armed men raided a house where a wedding party was held in Dur Baba district late Wednesday night. As a result nine civilians were killed and five others injured," spokesman Ahmad Zia Abdulzai said.

He blamed the enemies of Afghanistan, a term use by Afghan official referring to Taliban insurgents, for the attack.

Taliban insurgents on April 30 announced to launch spring offensive against Afghan and NATO-led forces stationed in the country.

The militant group warned people against supporting government and foreign troops.
