At least 40 killed in on-goning clash in NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - At least 40 militants were killed in an on-going clash with Pakistani security forces that broke out since Wednesday in the country's northwest Upper Dir district bordering Afghanistan, reported local English TV channel Express on Thursday.

According to the report, some 300 militants from Afghanistan stormed a checkpoint at the Brawl area of the afore-said district early Wednesday morning. During the two-day clashes in the area, the militants killed 27 people including seven security personnel, destroyed three schools and one bridge. The fight is still going on there, said the report.
