KABUL, Afghanistan – Officials say gunmen wearing suicide vests have stormed a government building in eastern Afghanistan and are in a shootout with Afghan security forces.

Provincial Police Chief Gen. Abdul Hakim Ishaqzai says the Afghan forces have surrounded the traffic department building. He says they are not launching a full assault because the militants are wearing suicide vests and they don't want them to detonate their explosives.
