TRIPOLI - Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi met in Tripoli with tribal leaders from the eastern part of the country, according to footage shown on Libyan state TV on Wednesday night.

The footage, which showed that Gaddafi talked with tribal leaders in a hotel in Tripoli, did not tell the date of the meeting.

On April 30, Gaddafi's youngest son, Saif al-Arab Gaddafi, and three of his grandchildren were killed in NATO's strike.

On the same day, Gaddafi ruled out the possibility that he will quit and leave Libya, which he has been ruling over the past 41 years.

The world's major powers, the United States, Britain and France, started on March 19 to launch strikes from the air and sea against Gaddafi's forces after the UN Security Council passed a resolution to impose a no-fly zone over Libya and authorize "all necessary measures" to protect civilians in Libya.
