PHNOM PENH - Cambodian and Thai troops exchanged gunfire in the disputed border area for the fourth consecutive day on Monday, said Cambodian defense spokesman.

Thai troops have fired artillery shelling into Cambodian territory over the disputed border area at the Ta Moan temple in Oddar Meanchey province on Monday afternoon, the spokesman said.

"At 1:45 pm Thai forces had fired six rounds of artillery in the area near Ta Moan temple," Lieutenant General Chhum Socheat, the spokesman for Cambodian Ministry of Defense, told Xinhua by telephone.

It marks the fourth straight day of conflict on Thai-Cambodian border. Both sides blamed each other for triggering the clashes.

No casualties from the latest clash were available now.
