ISLAMABAD - Pakistan on Tuesday successfully conducted the first flight test of the newly developed short range surface-to-surface Multi Tube Ballistic Missile (NASR), the army said.

The Hatf-9 missile has been developed to add deterrence value to Pakistan's strategic weapon development program at shorter range NASR, with the range of 60 kilometers, an army statement said.

The missile carries nuclear warheads of appropriate yield with high accuracy, it said.

"This quick response system addresses the need to deter evolving threats," the army said.
