Over 50 militants killed in northwest Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - At least 50 militants were killed in a two-day operation launched by the Pakistani armed forces in the country's northwest tribal area of Mohamand Agency, reported local media Geo News on Friday.

The report quoted the officials of political administration in the afore-said area as saying that over 50 militants were killed and scores of others injured in the operation carried out in Tehsil Saafi and Baizai.

The security forces also pounded militants hideouts with the help of gunship helicopters. Two militants' dens were reportedly destroyed and a crop of poppy on 10-canal land was also scrapped in the operation.
