5.7-magnitude quake rocks Nepal-India border

KATHMANDU -  An earthquake of 5.7 Richter scale was recorded in Nepal-India border region at around 1132 GMT on Monday, no casualties or damage have been reported so far, according to local media myrepublica.com.

The US Geological Survey said the quake was 5.4 on the Richter scale, and the epicenter, with a depth of 12.5 km, was at 29.7 degrees north latitude and 80.8 degrees east longitude.

It was at 93 km north northeast of Mahendranagar, 496 km west northwest of the capital city Kathmandu, and some 130 km east northeast of Haldwani, Uttaranchal, India.
