DAMASCUS - Syrian official source Sunday said 10 people were killed during clashes that erupted on Saturday in the coastal city of Latakia, about 300 km north to Damascus, official SANA news agency reported.

Armed groups fired at the security forces and attacked public and private properties, the official said, adding that some 200 people, mostly from the security forces, were wounded in the clashes.

An armed group on Saturday fired at passers-by and the security forces from building roofs in Latakia, said SANA.

Syrian authorities accused foreign powers of standing behind the bloody clashes in various parts of the country, particularly in the southern town of Daraa, causing deaths of dozens of people.
