6.2-magnitude earthquake hits off Japan's Honshu

BEIJING - An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale on Monday jolted near the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 2:12 pm Beijing Time, according to the China Earthquake Network Center.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10 km, was monitored at 37.8 degrees north latitude and 142.7 degrees east longitude, the center said in a statement.
