8 injured as grenade hits Yemen protesters

SANAA - At least eight anti-government protesters were wounded when attackers hurled a hand grenade towards them in the Yemeni southern city of Taiz on Friday, opposition sources said.

Around 8,000 armed government supporters with daggers and sticks, some wielding arms, gathered in downtown in Taiz city, and charged towards about 10,000 anti-government protesters assembling in the other side of the city demanding the president to resign and to dismiss his family members from military and security posts, according to police sources at the scene.

Some assailants of the government backers threw a hand grenade at the rally of anti-government protesters, injuring at least eight, some in critical conditions, according to opposition sources.
