2-week-old conjoined twins separated in India

Conjoined twins Kunal and Kartik were photographed the day after they were born at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, on Sept 4, 2010, in New Delhi, India. Tiny Kunal and Kartik were joined at the chest and shared a diaphragm and liver. Two weeks after being born by caesarean section, a team of 18 surgeons successfully separated the boys in a groundbreaking five-hour operation, the first of its kind to be conducted on conjoined twins so young.
