PYONGYANG - Kim Jong-il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has inspected a newly built hard glass shop and the Kangso Mineral Water Processing Factory, DPRK's leading newspaper Rodong Sinmun reported on Thursday.

Kim, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of the DPRK National Defense Commission, inspected the glass shop at the Taean Friendship Glass Factory, which is built with assistance from China, the report said, without giving the exact time of the inspection tour.

He expressed satisfaction over the fact that the glass factory successfully built the modern shop in a short span of time and is now mass-producing special glass and a variety of glass products.

He called on the factory to steadily boost production as it is a symbol of the DPRK-China friendship and is important for demonstrating the vitality of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

When inspecting the Kangso Mineral Water Processing Factory, Kim said the factory should play its important role in protecting and promoting the health of the people, said the paper.

The top leader was accompanied by Kim Jong-un, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and other senior officials.
