Qinghai-Tibet railway in snapshots

Qinghai-Tibet railway is the world's highest railway, connecting Xining of Qinghai province and Lhasa of Tibet autonomous region. Its total length is 1,956 kilometers, or 1,215 miles, and nearly half of the track was built 4,000 meters above the sea level.

China Daily's multimedia reporter Feng Xin boarded the train Beijing. Follow along as she shares photos from her 39-hour journey. But this is just the first leg of her journey.
