Chinese guests may enjoy privileged treatment at hotels in coming months when traveling abroad. The details are still being finalized, but that special treatment could include a Chinese language service, Chinese tea and Chinese breakfast foods.

To ensure Chinese guests feel more comfortable when traveling abroad, Hilton Worldwide has created a program called "Huan Ying", which means "welcome" in Chinese. Philippe Garnier said the program demonstrates the Hilton's determination to seize the Chinese market.

This innovative concept will debut at selected hotels in Europe and the Americas. While they win the affection of Chinese outbound travelers, Hilton also has a daring domestic plan to expand its presence in China. Garnier said he hopes the Hilton chain will jump from the current 17 hotels to 100 in the next five years. That plan is in response to expectations that China will become the world's second-largest travel and tourism market by 2013.

The 100 hotels will be of distinguished variety, roughly consisting of 70 percent full-service hotels and 30 percent luxury hotels and resorts. After the Hilton expands its luxury and full-service hotels, Garnier said the company will focus on developing its mid-scale brands.
