A newly built landscape in Olympic Park in Beijing represents scenes from Along the River During the Qingming Festival, a famous painting by Song Dynasty artist Zhang Zeduan (1085–1145). The painting depicts daily life and the landscape of the dynasty's capital, Bianjing, today's Kaifeng.
It selects scenes from more than 40 stories, dozens of special buildings, more than 100 animals and over 200 people from the painting. It makes one feel as if they have traveled back to the Song Dynasty and brings to life the wine shops, butcher's stores, tea houses and restaurants of that time.
