Once the domain of warehouses, Fotan has experienced an artistic renaissance in the past decade as artists and designers find the spacious lofts ideal for honing their craft. Check out what being a Fotanian is all about during two consecutive weekends of open doors to catch a glimpse of 300 participating artists at work and play. Red Elation Studio's Sim Chan will be on hand to walk visitors through the creative process.

Architecture or art
The Hong Kong chapter of the American Institute of Architects presents a talk by Aric Chen on architecture as works of art at the inaugural reception of Gagosian Gallery. Chen, curator of design and architecture at M+ in West Kowloon Cultural District, will discuss his vision for the 62,000-square-meter multidisciplinary museum.

Swords and sandals
KidsFest 2013 returns to Hong Kong featuring live productions of best selling books that make education fun for children. Horrible Histories, presented by ABA Productions and The Birmingham Stage Company, brings Ciaran McConville's adaptation of Ruthless Romans to life. Kids find out first hand about the Roman Empire through its emperors, armies and gladiators, with sing-a-long songs to get the whole family in fighting shape.
