Liukeng village: 1st ancient village of China

Situated in Le'an County, Jiangxi Province, Liukeng Village has over 1,000 years of history. It was built during the Southern Tang Dynasty of the Five Dynasties in Chinese history (937-943) and most residents are surnamed Dong. Surrounded by green mountains, it offers attractive scenery as well as countless talents. Liukeng Village is famous for its large-scale architecture as well as unique building layout. The architectural style differs from that of imperial buildings and ordinary farmers residences. The village now has over 260 Ming and Qing sites, 18 architectural groups, 48 ancestral halls, eight temples as well as many precious culture heritages. [Photo/china.org.cn] |
