As part of the Lifeweek and UCCA Cultural Festival, 25 discussions, three film screenings, six crossover performances, and more than 10 hours of outdoor concerts will be held. Among the highlights are vocalist Sainkho Namtchylak, a master of the unique multi-octave Tuvan throat-singing style, which is known for its deep guttural moans as well as high-pitched whistles and buzzing overtones. Namtchylak will give an outdoor show on the opening day together with Buu Club, an African drum troupe and mainland rock band, New Pants. Musician Liu Suola will present a concert with her friends, Yang Jing on pipa, Wu Na on guqin and Yang Jier on piano this Sunday.
Sept 15 and 16. UCCA, 798 art zone, 4 Jiuxianqiao Lu, Chaoyang district, Beijing. 010-5780-0200.
