In southwest China's Guizhou province, there is a place called the "Wumeng Rift", also known as the "Dead End" to the villagers living on both sides of the rift. "It's because the road ends here and there is no other way to the other side," said one villager.
The Hongde village is located in the Shuicheng county to the west of Liupanshui city in Guizhou. There is no bus available in this village and the most convenient way is to take the train. The nearest train station to the Hongde Village is the Maocaoping Station, which is about 2 kilometers away. The only problem is that a big rift, named Wumeng Rift, separated the two places.
Since the Hongde Village built the first strop ropeway in 2001, all the villagers could cross the "Dead End" riding on the ropeway.
