Nishan Hill is about 30 kilometers southeast of Qufu, East China's Shandong Province. At the foot of the hill lies Kunling Cave, in which, legend has it, Confucius' mother gave birth to him. There is also a temple on the hill in honor of Confucius, and the Academy of Nishan Hill was set up with the purpose of promoting Confucianism.
