Wonder wall

5. Yulin, Shaanxi province

The Great Wall divides Yulin in two: the north features sand and grass, while the south is covered with hills and ravines.

This is a very old part of China where humans have lived since Stone Age times. Local folk songs and Yulin yangko (a popular folk dance) are famous throughout the nation.

The Zhenbeitai section of the wall lies 4 km north of Yulin city and is the biggest city terrace on the Great Wall. To the north of the wall, visitors can see an endless desert horizon, while to the south, forests can be seen.
