Just over 48 hours after winning her first title of 2016 at the Toray Pan Pacific Open, Wozniacki was back on court in Wuhan taking on former US Open champion Stosur, who had reached the French Open semifinals earlier this year.
Still, the Dane looked sharp against Stosur, winning 73% of her first serves and converting five of six break point opportunities. Even against the Aussie's formidable serves, the Dane won half of her first serve points on return, following an aggressive pattern observed last week in Tokyo.
Wozniacki has shaken off the rusty form at the beginning of the season to embrace a hardcourt resurgence recently which saw her reach the US Open semifinal.
Up next for Wozniacki is Czech youngster Katerina Siniakova.
