WASHINGTON -- Jeremy Lin announced through social media Wednesday that he's joining the Charlotte Hornets.
Lin averaged 11.2 points and 4.6 assists in 74 games, including 30 starts, for the Los Angeles Lakers last season. 11.2 points per game and 42 percent shooting from the field are both his lowest since his rookie season.
"Going into my first true free agency as an NBA player this off-season, the one thing that mattered to me the most was finding a team that would be a good fit for me," Lin said on his Facebook.
"I wanted to be on a team where I would be able to play freely and truly play the game I love with joy again. That has always been the most important thing to me.
"After a lot of prayer and long discussions with family and friends, I wanted to personally let you guys know I'll be joining the Charlotte Hornets."
Lin began his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors in 2010-11 before moving on the New York Knicks, where he gained international fame with stunning performance. He joined the Houston Rockets in 2012-13 before getting traded to the Lakers following the 2013-14 season.
