Swimming star dropped from team after driving offense

Olympic swimming champion and world record holder Sun Yang has been suspended from the national team after being detained for driving without a license, the Chinese swimming sports administrative center announced on Wednesday.

The sport’s governing body made the decision on Wednesday morning after Sun was given a seven-day administrative detention for driving without a license by police inHangzhou,Zhejiangprovince. He was involved in a minor collision with a bus on Sunday.
Sun was detained in a local detention center since Monday and his parents have paid him a visit, Qianjiang Evening News reported.
But he has a single room and the food is different from that given to other detainees, Modern Express reported.

China's Olympic and world swimming champion Sun Yang has received an indefinite ban from competition following his seven-day detention for driving without a license.
In the latest negative incident, the double Olympic champion was found driving without a license when Hangzhou police dealt with a car accident in which Sun's car was hit from behind by a bus on Sunday afternoon.
On Monday, Sun was fined for 2,000 yuan (about $328) and given a seven-day detention for breaking the law.
Meanwhile, the Zhejiang College of Sports, to which the first Chinese male Olympic swimming champion is affiliated, suspended Sun from competition.
