Petra Kvitova: (on returning to top 10) I don't think that the dip out of the top 10 is really big deal. That's a number before my name, and that's it for me. I was still thinking about my game. I knew exactly what I had to improve to, come back higher, and that's I did before Asian tour and then I played in Asia.

Serena Williams: (on overcoming a foot injury in 2010 and the pulmonary embolism in 2011) I didn't think I would play tennis again after that. I thought unfortunately that, you know, I just wanted to try to survive that moment and then move on. Then I ended up playing again. So I think that definitely built a lot of character in me, and I think it built even more mental toughness. It made me realize I can get through a lot of -- I could overcome a lot of things, and, you know, obviously had a lot of help, as well. I think all that really, really made me feel like I can do it.

Li Na: (on whether she has a personal best year in 2013) I don't know how the other player, but for me didn't matter how many tournament you win. It's you have to look about to see the year, what do you do? So I know I only win one tournament, but you have to see another tournament. I play a lot of semis, a lot of quarters. I was feeling this is much better than last year, so at least I improve a lot.

Sara Errani: (on if she has considered stop playing doubles) No, never, because I have a lot of fun playing doubles. I think also the doubles help my singles game. So I like to play both. Of course sometimes it's tough physically too. After your singles maybe you are tired and you have to play again doubles. It is not easy, but I like very much to play doubles. Of course when you play with your friend, your best friend, it's easier to stay there and it's much better.

Agnieszka Radwanska: (on playing Serena Williams) Well, definitely she's dictating everything from the beginning of the match, and, you know, served very good also, you know, return is also very powerful and, you know, always going, you know, going forward. You know, it's very tough to stay in the game and really running, you know, really far from the baseline. I think against her you really have to try to, you know, play aggressive from the beginning of the match. If you start too slow it's not good.

Jelena Jankovic: (on being in a veteran group) No, I'm one of the youngest one. I'm still below 30. What's wrong?

Angelique Kerber: (on getting the Linz wildcard) You know, I was just asking for the wildcard in Linz and I got it. I was just happy to be there and I had the chance to play. I was actually not just focusing on myself but the goal was to qualify here, and yeah, I qualified at the end. Yeah, I'm just happy, and, you know, I think yeah -- I did nothing wrong, so, yeah.

Victoria Azarenka: (on her growing rivalry with Serena Williams) I think it's been growing. I think it's been becoming more and more interesting, and we had a lot of very good matches, very good battles, and it's great. I'm honored to be a part of that. That's what takes me every time to work harder to the next level, and, you know, I'm excited about that.
