ANTEWERP - Japan's Kenzo Shirai claimed the men's floor exercise gold medal at the gymnastics World Championships here on Saturday.
Shirai, who made the national earlier this year, scored 16.00 points for the gold.
The 16-year-old Shirai, the last to compete, shocked the field as American Jacob Dalton had looked sure to bag the title with 15.600 points.
Dalton took the silver while Kohei Uchimura of Japan, who won his fourth successive all-around title on Friday, finished third with 15.500 points.
Shirai was the youngest to compete for the Japanese national men's team.
