KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia's top shuttler Lee Chong Wei on Monday vowed to bounce back despite defeat in the Badminton world championship.
The world ranking No 1 retired due to leg cramps during the world championship final against his arch rival Lin Dan, who won a record fifth world title.
Lee's coaches have slammed the organizers for turning off the air-conditioning during the final that lead to the 30-year-old's retire.
Arriving home on Monday, a disappointed Lee admitted that the heat certainly affected him during the game. He was quoted by Sinchew Daily as saying that he would not blame anyone as he lost the game due to his own mistakes.
Despite another failed attempt to win the first world title, Lee vowed to bounce back with the 2016 Olympics as the main target.
He said he would take some rest and spend some time with family, but will be back on court soon.
The Malaysian knocked off the first set 21-16, before being defeated 13-21 in the second, and retired at 17-20 due to a knee injury in the thrilling men's singles final on Sunday.
Lee, who lost both Beijing and London Olympic men's singles finals to Lin as well as that of the last world championships, halted the match twice for medical help.
