SANTIAGO - The goalkeeper of the team Universidad de Chile (University of Chile), Johnny Herrera, was convicted to 41 days of conditional sentence for the death of Macarena Cassasus, who died after he ran over her.
Herrera, who did not attended the court to listen the final verdict, will not be imprisoned.
Also, the driver's license of the substitute goalkeeper of the Chilean national team was suspended for two years.
The player was arrested in Dec 2009 when he ran over Cassasus, 22, while driving under the influence in Santiago.
The public prosecutor and Casassus family are considering whether to appeal.
Herrera agreed to compensate to the victim's family by paying $50,000. But Herrera was again arrested in 2012 for drunk driving so the case was reopened.
