QINGDAO - Kang Jung-soo, Tracy McGrady's coach in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league, was dismissed just after the first two rounds of the new season, Sheng Xishun, manager of the Qingdao DoubleStar Eagles, told Xinhua on Thursday.
Zhang Shizhang, coach of the club's junior team, will take over Kang's place and the South Korean will become team's consultant, Sheng said.
"This decision was made to add one more people to the coaching staff," Sheng said.
However, fans are saying that Kang's removal was due to the poor results, as Qingdao was beaten by Fujian and Foshan 92-95 and 80-92 respectively in the first two rounds.

McGrady, seven-time NBA All-Star, scored 34 points and 32 points in two matches and some fans shouted "Sack the coach!" at the home court when Qingdao was defeated by Foshan.
Having been assistant coach of the Qingdao DoubleStar Eagles for two seasons, Kang led the team to win half matches last season, the best ever result for the team.
Zhang Shizhang, 62, has been coaching the junior team of Qingdao since 2008.
