BERLIN - Borussia Dortmund sealed title defence with a 2-0 win over Monchengladbach two rounds ahead of schedule at the 32nd round German Bundesliga on Saturday at out-sold Signal Iduna Park.

The BVB staged a dominant 2-0 performance against fourth placed Monchengladbach owing to goals by midfielder Ivan Perisic and Shinji Kagawa.

The host took over from kick off while the visitors focused their efforts on counter attacks. On 23 minutes, Dortmund midfielder Ivan Perisic had set the stage for the Bundesliga title as the Croatian international headed home a free kick cross from very close range to open the scoring.

Gladbach remained idealess against aggressive Dortmund, consequently the defending champions kept things firmly in their hands when midfielder Shinji Kagawa doubled the lead following a counter attack in the 59 minute.

Dortmund thus extended their unbeaten run to 26 matches in front of 80,720 spectators at home soil to win the second consecutive Bundesliga title.

Dortmund stays on top with 75 points while Monchengladbach retains fourth position with 56 points, which gives them a Champions League relegation spot.

"There are no words for today's match. We absolutely deserved the win and the title. My team has an exceptional character. The eight point gap to our chasers is incredible," Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp said.

The BVB still has the chance to seal the double for the first time, with the German Cup final against Bayern Munich in May.

In another match on Saturday, Frenchmen midfielder Franck Ribery saved Bayern Munich a 2-1 victory off the bench with a last gasp strike against Bremen at Weser stadium.

Jupp Heyncke gave eight players a break with one eye on the Champions League second leg against Real at Bernabeu in Madrid on Wednesday.

Injury-hit Bremen sniffed thus a chance against second-string stride Bayern but other than expected the visitors took control of the match, still both sides failed to convert their few opportunities until the break.

Six minutes into the second half Bremen defender Naldo shocked Bayern with the opener by header following a flicked corner from inside penalty area. Bremen defender Naldo spoiled his opener when he unintentionally cleared a diagonal pass by Ribery into his own net to level the score for the Bavarians at 75.

The German record champions had not enough, especially midfielder Ribery who shrugged off one Bremen defender to clinically find the back of the net at the far corner just before final whistle to flabbergast the host.

Bayern reside on second position with 67 points whereas Bremen occupies the eighth position with 42 points, two points away from international competitions.

Elsewhere, Hoffenheim lost to Leverkusen 1-0, relegation threatened Cologne ties 1-1 with Stuttgart to crave out one point at relegation battle, Nuremberg shares points with Hamburg after 1-1 and relegation threatened Berlin lost surprisingly to relegated team Kaiserslautern 1-2.

Already on Friday Mainz and Wolfsburg staged an unspectacular goal less draw after 90 minutes.

Augsburg host third positioned Schalke while Hannover encounter Freiburg to complete the 32nd round on Sunday.
