Myanmar to hold Wushu competition to mark Olympic Day

YANGON - Myanmar will hold Wushu competition in Yangon to mark the Olympic Day, according to the Myanmar Wushu Federation (MWF) Wednesday.

A total of 30 Wushu players were selected by the sports authorities for the four-day competition in Yangon slated for July 1 to 4.

Myanmar Wushu Federation has hired two Chinese coaches with Taolu and Sanshou categories.

Meanwhile, Myanmar Wushu players will also take part in the 6th Asian Junior Wushu Championship scheduled for August this year in Shanghai, China, along with athletes from 46 countries.

In the 3rd World Junior Wushu Championship in Singapore in December last year, Myanmar Wushu delegation clinched 3 gold medals, 4 silvers and 6 bronzes.

In November 2010, Myanmar Wushu athlete Sandi Oo scored silver medal in Women's Changquan Event in the 16th Asian Games in China.
