TOKYO - The world championship triathlon race in Yokohama of Japan scheduled for next month has been postponed possibly until September due to the ongoing nuclear crisis in Fukushima Prefecture, the Japan Triathlon Union said Tuesday.
Beijing Olympic champion Jan Frodeno of Germany was among the first to withdraw from the event as the International Triathlon Union stuck to its original plan.
A series of international sport events scheduled to be held in Japan have been canceled, postponed or relocated due to the ongoing nuclear crisis since March.
