LONDON - Chelsea skipper John Terry's hope of regaining England captaincy is increasing as England coach Fabio Capello is considering giving him the armband again.

The England international defender, once captain of the team, was deprived of the captaincy by Capello after his private life scandals hit the headlines.

Allegations that Terry had an affair with teammate Wayne Bridge's former girlfriend, eventually led to Bridge's quitting from international football.

But the new captain Rio Ferdinand has been plagued with injuries and only played four matches for England after replacing Terry.

Capello said he wanted to know the details of Ferdinand's fitness problem and after that "will explain to him what really happened and what I am going to do in the next week, if I will decide on a new captain or about John Terry or something else."

England plays Wales in a 2012 European Championship qualifier on March 26.
